2024-25 Current Student Room Move Request Form
If you currently live on campus, you can request to move rooms. Indicate to our staff where you would prefer to live on campus. All requests are processed in date order and depend on availability within the hall. The form is available online after the Drop Deadline for fall semester on Friday, September 14 and after the Drop Deadline for spring semester on Saturday, February 1.

Housing and Residential Education will not do any room moves for fall semester after Tuesday, November 26 to allow students to focus on their final exams and wrapping up the semester. Any room move requests that are not processed during the fall semester will be processed at the beginning of the spring semester. The Room Move Request Form will open back up on Tuesday, January 28, 2025. Housing and Residential Education will not do any room moves for spring semester after Tuesday, April 22, 2025, to allow students to focus on their final exams and wrapping up the semester.

Confidential Contact Person Form
If you live in on-campus housing, you can provide the name and contact information for a confidential contact person. This person would be contacted if you are determined to be missing.

Living in Local Area Form
First-year students with fewer than 20 college credit hours earned after high school graduation, who are under 21 and are not living in the local area with their legal guardian are required to live in UNC's housing system through the completion of their first academic year. Please note, credits earned through Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB), College-Level Examination Program (CLEP) or concurrent enrollment with high school do not apply. Local area is defined by school district and include: Ault Highland RE-9, Eaton RE-2, Greeley 6, Platte Valley RE-7, Poudre R-1, Thompson R-2J, Weld County RE-5J, Weld RE-1 and Windsor RE-4

If you want to live in the local area with a parent or legal guardian, please complete this form. You will be notified if your form is approved or if Housing and Residential Education requires more documentation. Complete the Living in Local Area Form.

Live On Campus Requirements 2025 - 26: More information on how to complete the Living in the Local Area Form in the Spring/Summer 2025.

All newly enrolled students who meet the criteria outlined below, are required by university policy to live-on campus for two-full semesters.

  • Are 20 years of age (or younger) on the first day of classes for the fall term of the academic year;
  • Enrolled in six (6) or more credits at the UNC Greeley Campus;
  • Have not requested and been granted an exemption prior to the start of their chosen entry term. Students will be able to petition to be released from this requirement for the following reasons:
    • Active Military Service
    • Change in Family Circumstance
    • Dependency of a Minor Child
    • Financial Hardship
    • Graduation (Outside of Contract Timeline)
    • Job (which requires you to live away from the local area, during the academic year)
    • Marriage
    • Pregnancy
    • Qualifying Disability
    • Sexual Violence
    • Student Teaching (which requires you to live away from the local area, during the academic year)
    • Study Abroad at another institution (which requires you to live away form the local area, during the academic year)
    • Study Abroad at UNC ending
    • University Sponsored Internship (which requires you to live away from the local area, during the academic year)
  • Are not living in the local area with their legal guardian;
  • Are a first-time, first-year student (as defined by the Office of Admissions)
  • Are a transfer student (as defined by the Office of Admissions) who has not previously enrolled at another accredited institution for at-least two consecutive semesters at full-time status, or, who earned fewer than 24 credit hours by the start of the term (excluding all dual/concurrent enrollment credits).
  • Credits earned through Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB), College-Level Examination Program (CLEP) or concurrent enrollment with high school do not apply
  • UNC defines the Local Area as students living with their parent or guardian in the following ZIP Codes: 80638, 80639, 80632, 80633, 80631, 80620, 80646, 80634, 80615, 80623, 80644, 80624, 80651, 80645, 80543, 80551, 80546, 80550, 80534, 80622, 80650, 80539, 80547, 80621, 80528, 80542, 80610, 80520, 80530, 80525, 80527, 80513, 80553, 80537, 80523, 80522, 80538, or 80524.

Housing and Residential Education requires the Petition for Release Form to be filled out if you want to live off campus during your freshman year. The following steps for this process are: 

  1. Complete the Petition for Release Form.  
  2. Submit a letter (from the student) describing the situation in detail.
  3. Provide required documentation as outlined in the petition.
  4. Submit completed requests (including items 1, 2 and 3 listed above) to housing@js-ayds.com or:

Please email completed documentation from your UNC @bears.js-ayds.com email address. Once received, a committee will review the petition for release information and the student will be notified of the committee's decision . Incomplete requests will not be viewed. The committee generally takes about one week to make a decision. 

This release may affect the student’s financial aid, so please contact the Financial Aid Office at ofa@js-ayds.com if you have questions.

Arlington Park Subleasing
A current resident (sublessor) of Arlington Park Apartments may sublet their space during the period of their lease to another UNC student (sublessee) not already living in UNC Housing during the subleasing period. Generally, UNC HRE only approves subletting during the summer months after the end of the spring term until the end of the lease or the start of the fall term, whichever is sooner. Students wishing to sublet during another period, for instance for study abroad, student teaching, etc., must contact HRE for written approval before subletting outside of summer.
